Nivea as a night cream
I used to use this cream for years, it was the first moisturiser I ever used. These were the times that my skin was flawless! I must of been doing something right so I recently repurchased. The reason why I stopped using this was because someone told me it gave facial hair which was a load of nonsense but I believed them and stopped using it... and that's when problems and experiments with new skincare regimes began.
Currently, I either use the Bobbi brown tinted moisturiser or Olay Beauty Fluid in the mornings. I stopped moisturising my skin at night so that the natural oils could do its job but realised my skin looked very dry and cracked looking. Winter is approaching and therefore I decided it was time for some intense action. I have been using the Nivea creme for about 4 nights now and my skin is very supple looking, no more cracks! :) This cream is rumoured to have the same or similar ingredients as La Mer, enlighten me somebody!
The texture of this is very thick and rich, once applied it leaves a greasy finish perfect for somebody to see a reflection of themselves in. It's just way too much for daytime, and for that reason I would only recommend using it at night. When I used this in the past, I even used it in the mornings, what was I thinking? I think therefore, my skin was used to SO much moisture that it really had a hard time adjusting to normal light creams, however thank god the Olay beauty fluid works for me. One thing I noticed about this cream is that it has healing properties, when I got blemish marks, this cream helped make them less visible, I'm not sure if that's true, but when I wake up in the morning I can definitely see a difference. It might just be wishful thinking but I like to think that it helps.
Please keep in mind that my skin is dry... this might be too greasy for somebody with normal, combo or oily skin. Furthermore, I think this is a good winter cream, in the summer it may just be too much.
Have you tried this cream, if so what do you think about it?

but for summer i reckon it would be too much even at nite, i guess it depends what you prefer, at nite like you said i dont really use anything but an eye creme..and my day time moisturiser at the minute is a dr haushka one...not seeing any great results yet...but its only been 2 days lol x
even if i dont use it for my face. it really does moisturize!
i even made a post about it.
its my favorite moisturizer, i use it as makeup remover, lip mask, etc...
its a staple on my dresser
^_~
i personally prefer nive soft http://www.nivea.co.uk/subbrands/show/865
I've been using the Nivea tinted moisturiser for a couple of weeks now and I LOVE it! So hopefully this will be good as well, your skincare advice has never let me down (:(:
Thanks for the review!
xx
My bf actually ONLY uses nivea on his face, and his skin looks flawless.. I get jealous.
So you might be onto something here..
I love your blog btw!
Cheers: Evi
i use ponds as my night creme & love it ...but i wanna try new ones so maybe i just might try this out
Great post.Yes very thick and greasy but it does work thats why its a classic! I love the smell.. its so comforting!
It's a really thick consistency, and I wouldn't think of using it for my face...
Works wonderfully as a hand cream though! ;)

For me too, It was the first moisturiser that I ever used!
I would also be interested to read in how far Nivea compares to the La Mer cream; as far as I know the classic Nivea (blue pot) does have a lot of parabens and other ugly ingredients in it, regardless of where it's made (I live in Germany and can tell you that there are loads of chemicals in the products here, too).
I don't know.. I'm a bit hesitant to smear this on my face. I occasionally carry it around with me as a hand cream.
I also like the smell of the classic Nivea as well as of the blue Nivea body lotion that smells slightly sour, of almonds, though I don't like the feel of it on my skin :(
Great post, thank you!

But thats okay...I guess I should stop being lazy and just warm it up in my fingers!
I had to give it a try. When I first opened the jar I thought it smelled so familiar. so then I read the ingredients and knew immediately what the smell was. All the women in my family wear Nivea and they have beautiful skin. The one that's pictured on your blog...in the blue jar. Even the La Mer jar is ugly and plain...for that much money you'd at least expect nice packaging and nice ingredients. And they've never had hair problems from this cream as you've mentioned. I also use it as a night cream on dry days and even as an eye cream...simply Beautiful !!

Maybe I should try for a week or so, it is not expensive at all!
Please tell us if you are experimenting any new pimples because of this.
