New Cushions for the bedroom..

I felt like I needed to lighten things up so I purchased these cream cushion covers from H&M and I LOVE them!

I want to hang something big and white on the wall too just to break up the print and switch a couple more cushions. I might even change the wallpaper completely, or paint the wall white, I haven't decided yet!

As you know I'm pregnant and we only have 1 bedroom so I have to incorporate the nursery into our bedroom and I want it to look as serene as possible! HELP!!!! :)

I also recently got this pendant light from 'Laura Ashley' which is beautiful and really adds a cosy touch to the bedroom. Now I need a small lamp...

Any space saving tips on incorporating the main bedroom with a newborn baby will be much appreciated!

So far, I know I want to have some kind of pullout storage for under the crib, I want to put a little shelf above the crib with cute baby toys on it, with the fabric letters that spell her name above. I want everything to be clutter free which is going to prove difficult but I need to make it work somehow....

OMG what a beautiful room and I adore these cushions!! Prob not the best person to advise on storage, but whatever you do, remember that your little baby will be up on her feet before you know it - trying to open drawers, pull things off surfaces etc. I recommend at least one high shelf - I use this to keep things out of reach with pretty boxes to store nappies, creams, wipes etc and any medication. Plus some pretty things of course! :) My babies are now 3&6 but I still find these shelves useful!

@Strawberry blonde, Thank you, today I moved the dvd and other electrical stuff from the bedroom ontop of my chest of drawers so they are high up and out of her way, I need to find some pretty boxes for nappies, creams etc like you said! :) x

@Pritrica Thanks, I'm always trying to improve it :) x

For the wall, I would paint if robin egg blue and cement it with a large painting with a white frame. The painting I'm envisioning is of a field with lots of flowers with a beach in the foreground. I'd put a lamp with white linen-like lamp shades on each side of the bed.

I would get a white crib that could be turned into a toddler bed (I'm not sure if you get what I mean, but I hope you get it.) I might look for one with storage on the bottom (if those even exist.) It'll be more expensive, but it'll be more cost effective. I'd dress it with a pink mattress sheet with a floral comforter probably.

Okay, my interior designer brain needs sleep. G'night.

i think you should keep the wallpaper babies need as much colour and patterns as you can give them
this is because it stimulates their mind
you might enjoy watching "pregnant in heels"
it talks about some really interesting baby facts :)

Hi Muhsine

I love your cushions. Please don't paint over the wall I love that wallpaper. Also where did you get from...I have bed covers that match it exactly and as my room is tiny it would look great.

When my sister had her son who is two now..she had him in her room too...they brought a baby wardrobe from ikea for his clothes and everything and on top of it she stored nappies in a really nice straw basket from tk max and another for the babies creams and things.

two years on and she still doing the same thing. she says it keeps things together and out of the way. and he even knows which draw his socks are in so he runs and gets socks when you ask him too..

WOW you have a gorgeous bedroom ! Love the soft yellow flower walls =)
You can buy great baby changing stations which have lots of internal space. You can fit all nappies, wipes, baby creams, vests etc in them and change the baby on the top section. The top section can also double up as a shelf for other things when not in use.

love H&M home.
we have a 1 bed flat with a baby. it't totally do-able. i think ikea have a fold down changing table which you attach to the wall that can go up and down when needed. we have also made use of storage under everything - the sofa, the cot, our bed etc. if you can move any bulky things you don't use to someone elses house that is helpful too. and leave the buggy/pram in the car as they take up so much space!!

I'm in the process of re-decorating the bedroom for me and baby too. Last week I got more wardrobes fitted into the bedroom for baby, so me and her both have matching wardrobes now ;) I got more built mainly for storage. I havent even decided on a colour scheme yet for the room... so so busy trying to get organised for babys arrival :)

I think painting the wall whit would make the room too sterile and stark. If you want to break up the patterned papaer a large white print would be ideal. However its importasnt to keep it all tonal. Introducing new colours would make the room seem small or cluttered. A white crib that can be converted sounds like a good idea and closed cupboards seem much less cluttered than open shelving (no way to hide the mess)!

Excellent advice girls.. I've taken it all into consideration, I got a few things from Ikea yesterday and have a few more ideas, I will show you what the room looks like once it's fully finished before the baby comes :) xxx

I love that you have H&M home items out there...sadly, we're still waiting on that!

As for space saving tips..I don't know if you're thinking of a changing table..but there is a changing tray that can be placed on top of the crib--I think it's by Oeuf?

Definite space-saver!

Your room looks wonderful! We had a nursery set up for my daughter when she was born, but she spent a lot of time in our bedroom so we eventually had to move some of her furniture in ours. By the way, she's 4 now but here are pics of her nursery, I hope it helps out:)
