23 Week Pregnancy Update!

I'm 23 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I feel great!

The baby is now a little more than 500gms and measures about 29cm. Her hearing is established and can make out a distorted version of my voice and my heart beating along with my stomach rumblings.

The biggest part of my belly now measures almost 35". My tiny waist which used to be 24" now measures 30". I started off my pregnancy at 59kg and dropped to 57kg due to morning sickness. I now weigh 62kg which is quite good, I thought I would of put on a lot more weight at this point but thankfully I haven't.

I can now feel her moving a lot more frequently, it feels like soft taps which are sometimes quite hard. I can also see my belly move slightly when she pokes me! :) I'm still using the Body Shops body butters all over my body and an extra layer of 'Neal's Yard - Mother's balm' on my bump and breasts and I have no stretch marks to report yet!

Sleeping in a comfortable position had become quite impossible so I purchased the Dream Genii pillow. I have to say it's brilliant, it supports my back and my bump and I wish I got it sooner!

I spotted a potential hospital bag at a bargain price and snapped it up!

I got it for £19.90 from Butlers, it's huge, sturdy and brown. I heart it! Also, my husband wont have to feel funny carrying it, I could never give him a girly floral bag to hold. :)

I also got this little blue bag to store bits and pieces which will also go inside the hospital bag. It's rather large and is from H&M for £4.99.

I got a few things for 0-3 months for the hospital....

I have been making notes of EVERYTHING I have to do as I am a listaholic. How cute is my notebook? It's from WH Smith by the way.

Here's my list for the hospital bag - click to enlarge and tell me if I need to add anything! :D

I told you we had already decided on her name, and we have stuck with it (not revealing it yet). I got some gorgeous fabric letters from Mama's & Papa's that I will hang on the wall above her cot. Awww :)

I also couldn't resist this patchwork dress... obviously! But it's SO cute, I want to wear it hehe!

Also, I found a picture of my hubby when he was little and doesn't he look so cute? He actually looks like a little girl! :)

How are you feeling today? I can't believe I will be exactly 6 months pregnant in a few days, I honestly can't wait to meet her, hurry up 1st of October!

It's crazy to think how time goes by so quick. You have some gorgeous things for baby, I think it's so difficult not knowing what gender your baby is, I don't know how anybody can go the whole 9 months without knowing.
I find out what my baby is on Thursday which is super exciting, everybody is telling me I'm carrying a big boy by the looks of my bump, but suppose nobody can be too certain.
I hope all is going well for you and baby :) x

Your bump is adorable, I agree!! ♥
I was looking at your list trying to see if you forgot something.. hm.. charger for your phone and camera. Makeup wipes if you feel too tired to cleanse your face properly with a cleanser.
Remember to keep all the little things at the hospital, like yours and her's hospital bracelet ;) If she gets a little hat or something right after she's born - KEEP IT! lol

I'm so excited to see her!! ♥

I would highly recommend Jools Oliver's book Minus Nine to One: The Diary of an Honest Mum. I read it a few years after i had had my son and it was so 'real' without being scary, i wished it had been available earlier. XXX

Congratulations on your exciting news, it's the best thing in the world being a Mum :)

One thing I tell all my friends to add to their hospital bag is a hot water bottle!!! You'd be surprised how much they help with the contractions pain, I don't know what I would have done without mine!!!

All the best xx

My mom said you might want to pack some baby clothes that are bigger, just in case your baby is a bit bigger than you expected. I was supposed to be small because I was almost 4 weeks premature, but I didn't fit into the hospital onsies!

Wow!This inspires me a lot!!Regardinf to your sleeping postion Muhsine, how do u trun to your left or right position during your sleep? I was told here in France that when we want to turn on our left or right sideway position, we can't simply swish directly. We need to get up like in a sitting position and then turn slowly. This is said to avoid the risk of umbilical cord getting tangled around the foetus.I find it hard and getting up and turning method really bothers me.

@Belle I'm not, I jotted down knickers and maternity bras don't scare me haha :)

@Marshall, right I'm adding the hot water bottle to the list :)

@Katie I have lots of 3-6 month onesies, I'm going to get one newborn outfit too just incase she's tiny!

On the subject of, onesies, My daughter was on the large side (8lbs 12oz) but she still wore size newborn for a few weeks because 0-3 drowned her. Just a though. Oh, if you buy anything in Next, I have found it comes up quite small :) Oh blimey, all this advice!! I'll keep it zipped now haha

Just wanted to say make sure you do not forget to get nipple butter if you're going to breastfeed as they can get very painful :(, I used one from Earth Mama Angel Baby which is 100% natural and worked so well, really can't recommend it enough!

Also from my experience, baby gros are the best to put babies in at least for the first few months as it makes it easier to carry them, change them etc and they seem to be more comfortable and happy overall.

Hope this helps and good luck! :) x

Hi Muhsine

I hope all is going well for you and baby , cute baby clothes mashallah :)

as a suggestion you could keep a whole outfit for the baby in a large zippers bags like a complete set and make at least 3 sets each one in a zipper bag by its own so when the nurses want to change outfits for the baby you can give her a neat bag that hold every thing.. how about that :)

Awww!! (I had to stop myself from squeeling when I saw the ickle clothes as I'm at work. Lol)
You are looking amazing! :) xxx

take an ipod (or something similar), and make sure the knickers you pack are either really old, or ones you hare happy to throw away! (don't be silly like I was and pack any g-strings, they don't work with maternity pads!). My boy was born 10lbs 5oz, so didn't fit into any 0000 clothes or newborn size nappies!

Hi! Congrats on the baby!! Just a little advise...you have Satsuma body butter on your list. You might want to take something with a little less scent to it. Either you or the baby might think it is too strong of a scent after the birth. My sister in law took a scent like that and the baby didn't care for it at all and would start crying if she got too close to it. Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly!! :)
