What's in my travel makeup bag and duty free!

Here's the little make up bag in question. It's a nice pink polka dot number I picked up very cheaply from Superdrug a day before I went away. I like it as it's flimsy and wipe clean, all my other ones are structured and way too big.

I surprisingly managed to pack very light in my opinion... agreed? :)

Here's the lowdown:

FACE: Mac 'Face & Body' foundation decanted into a pot, Chanel pressed powder, Benefit 'Hoola' Bronzer, Mac 'Stereo Rose' and 'Well Dressed' blush.

LIPS:
Mac 'Creme d'nude', 'Creme Cup' and 'Costa Chic' lipstick, Dior addict lip polish 004 and Benefit 'Didn't hear it from me' lipgloss.

ESSENTIALS:
YSL touche eclat, Nars e/s primer, Clinique high impact mascara, Mac 'Lord it up' eyeliner, Benefit 'eye bright', Urban decay 24/7 liner 'Lucky', Mac 'Oak' lipliner, Rimmel eyebrow pencil 'Hazel', Mac studio finish concealer and Shu Uemera painting liner in black.

EYE SHADOWS: All Mac stored in a Z palette - Ricepaper, Patina, Carbon, Vellum, Romp, Club, Stars n Rockets, Sweet n Punchy and Humid.

I also took along a mish mash of my favourite brushes from different brands, I used my brush roll and tucked it into my makeup bag. Nice 'n' neat!

DUTY FREE

On the plane I decided to purchase the Bare Minerals 'Get Started' kit, it contains the foundation, mineral veil, warmth, concealer and 3 brushes. It cost me £38! I got the shade 'medium beige' which seems to be fine.

So far I have used the foundation to set my Mac 'face and body' (C3) and I LOVE the finish it gives me, it's extremely prominent in photos (see photo below), I can't believe how smooth my skin looks. The concealer is nice too, and I can't wait to try the other products. I tried bare minerals a few years ago and I thought I had an allergic reaction to the bismuth oxychloride within hours, but this time round it seems to be fine, maybe it was something else I was allergic to in the past, who knows.

The brushes are also great, they don't shed which is something that has been driving me up the wall lately.

On my way out of duty free in Gatwick yesterday, I also picked up the Clinique toner in no 3 along with the dramatically different moisturising gel that has a pump. I have been using the whole line whilst on holiday and have been loving it so decided to stock up. :)

Do you use any of the products I use, if so what are your thoughts?

Love this post, hehe! The makeup bag is sooo cute! I think you did pretty well, it is so hard to not overpack makeup when you travel, and most of the time you do not wear half of the stuff! I try to reduce the ammount of eyeshadows and lipsticks i bring, and brushes.

I love that brush bag, its so pretty! And I'm in awe at how much make up you packed for the trip - just the right amount. xx

Is that the brush roll you made yourself? It's so lovely and I really like the print.
When I go on holiday, I bring far too many lipsticks hehe x

Thanks girls, I thought I did pretty good too :) I really didn't want to be carrying a whole bunch of stuff I wasn't going to use, plus there's always something better to do than spend AGES applying your makeup whilst on holiday :)

I love Benefit Hoola, it's the perfect bronzer/contour product that you can use without worrying about turning into a pumpkin.

And your skin really looks great with the mineral foundation on, so smooth and glowy.

I used the clinique 3 stp and found it incredibly drying. Then my skin startd producing more oil to compensate. Fail! I have oak lipliner and love it. And Club e/s. I have bare minerals too but I havent used it. I think I need to sort my skin out a bit more first.

Thanks for this post :) Emma xx

ay makyaj cantan cok sekerrrr <3

zaten senin makyaj ĂĽrĂĽnlerini cok seviyorum !

bir kac tanesini senden görerek aldim ;))

benefit bronzerini ben de istiyorum...

sevgiler canim !

@Computergirl yes the toner is really drying, I only apply a teeny tiny bit and only use it at night, otherwise my skin would hate me, so far so good, I really like the base the gel provides for the mac face and body, it's more smooth and doesn't tug :/

Club e/s is amazing, a great one for the hols as it looks like you have put more effort into a look when you haven't :) xx

Ha ha, I pack as "lightly" as you do on a short trip, lol! I want to have options in my makeup bag- 2 lipsticks and an eyeshadow quad ain't cutting it...

I like the 3-step because the products have very few ingredients; which in my book equals to less chances for irritation ;)

@Civ Civ saol canim, evet cok tatli hemen kaptIm :) Hoola bronzeri cok guzel, hic turuncu yapmiyor insani, cok dogal duruyor tavsiye ederim. xx

@cbsg5861 lol, yes I'm really liking the Clinique stuff, the cleanser is particularly good with the clarisonic, I used to use it just before I got married then discovered everything else and strayed :) x
I used to love Hula bronzer, but have since switched to using MAC blunt as a bronzer/contour (it is also matte). I felt like I really had to pack on Hula to get it to show up on my skin, and with Blunt you only need a tiny bit. I like that I use less product on my face now! It's def my HG bronzer!!
Check it out!

I love Bare Minerals! I wrote a review on it just a little while ago. I agree, the brushes are great.

I just bought the bare minerals original foundation and im loving it. I have to plow it on as I have acne and scarring and want everything to be covered but it never looks too heavy, it gives a really natural finish.
Only downside is it does tend to cake around the corners of my nose.
Another thing.. I really like the finish this gives me without moisturiser underneath.. which is something I discovered when in a rush, but it didn't break me out at all and I loved the finish.
I'm trying not to make a habit of it :S

@Sara I am yet to try the bare minerals on it's own, I love it as a setting powder but I would love to use it on its own, good to hear you love it :)

Wow! So much fits in side a little bag =). I used to use bare minerals alone, but that kind of fell by the wayside because I didn't like the color oxidation. Maybe in summer I'll pick it up again. I love the clinique toner; and I'm lemming after your Chanel powder and creme de nude lipstick!
what is lip polish and moisturizing gel? i've never heard of either one of those. do you usually use primer? does the bare minerals match your skin tone? sorry i don't mean to ask so many questions, but you know so much about makeup.

I'm headed on a trip this month and I've been trying to decide what to bring! Probably just bbcream, lipgloss and eyeliner, cause my suitcase is gonna be packed when I come back so I prob shouldn't take as much as you did!

You definitely packed thoughtfully. I make the mistake of packing too much makeup for a holiday, and then wearing hardly any!

I use one of the clinique cleansers--it's a foaming gel and is a see-through light green (it's not near me). I like it fine. The Bare minerals--I've had such a bad relationship with them in the past that I swore them off. But the finish it leaves on your skin is so lovely that it has me wondering if I should give them another try? xx

Love how lightly you packed & the eyeshadows u chose to take along were all ideal! So u put the BE mineral powder on top of ur MAC F&B? I didn't know u can use BE mineral foundation with a liquid foundation. I tend to use mineral powder foundations alone bcuz i think it would look too cakey on top of liquid foundation. the finish looks fabulous on u though!

Thank you all so much for your wonderful sweet and kind words, glad you found this post interesting and I will certainly do a review for the Bare Minerals once I have used it a lot more. xXx

@Victoria - A lip polish is the same as a lip gloss, a moisturising gel is just a different texture to a lotion, it’s much lighter. I don’t use a primer and thankfully the bare minerals does match my skin tone.

@cryskay @carla Thanks, I made it myself 

@heavenrain – I don’t mind them but prefer without but it’s not a big deal.

@fantastic sometimes second chances work and sometimes they don’t, see if you can get a mini pot?

@Claudia yes I put the BM on top of the mac face and body, the face and body is such a light foundation similar to a tinted moisturiser that it doesn’t EVER look heavy or cakey, and thankfully the BM is light too so it never looked cakey  they actually go really well together for me.

i use the clinique toner #3. it's really great for controlling oil but i don't like using it in the winter; it dries out my face a bit and stings sometimes.
