Neutrogena oil free range review..

It's been 2 months since my harsh 'Out with the old' post, and I am pleased to say I stuck to my routine *pat on the back* and I am happy to report back with a skin care update.

I have been using the Neutrogena oil free range and I absolutely think that it's amazing, the moisturiser and the face wash are the standout products. I have gotten so many compliments on my skin and questions as to what I am using, my skin is going back to how it used to be before I started wearing make up. Here's my thoughts on each product:

  • NEUTROGENA OIL FREE MOISTURISER - This is a gentle, lightweight yet moisturising cream, it absorbs into the skin instantly leaving no greasy or shiny residue. I don't usually like lightweight creams as my skin often feels tight, but this leaves it supple and soft. I REALLY believe this cream is a miracle worker, it's helped heal my blemishes and scars quicker and given me a more even toned complexion and I know for sure it's this moisturiser as it's the only one I have used solid for 2 months. I don't understand how affordable yet effective it is, it's really a lifesaver for me. I really see a difference when I put this on at night and wake up in the morning, it also works great as a makeup base.
  • NEUTROGENA OIL FREE MAKEUP REMOVER - This is a thick white cream which I apply onto a cotton round and wipe away my makeup. It’s non greasy and it even says there’s no need to wash your face after, which I have done and gone top bed straight after, but I prefer to wash/cleanse my face and apply moisturiser after. It does exactly what it says, I only use this at night.

  • NEUTROGENA OIL FREE FACE WASH - This is so gentle yet it foams and cleanses. Again with all the oil free range there is no greasy residue, it’s lightweight and effective. I wash my face with this once to get rid of any makeup I may have missed and then once again to cleanse my face at night and then once in the morning.
  • GARNIER GRAPE WATER EYE MAKEUP REMOVER - I love this purely because it does not irritate my eyes, smells fresh, doesn't leave a greasy residue and removes all my eye makeup, job done.
  • I was using the face brush by Boots botanicals (pictured in my last skincare post) to ensure further cleansing which was going AMAZINGLY well, but I was contacted by a PR company who asked if I wanted to try the Clarisonic, and I obviously said YES. At first I HATED the Clarisonic and really didn't see the point of it which is why I didn't blog about it instantly, I felt like it was a waste of money, electricity and time, but I think I am beginning to LOVE it, I am still not 100% sure, but I will let you know how my thoughts develop. HOWEVER, I would recommend you get a standard face brush and introduce it into your routine at night as you will definitely see a difference in your skin tone and texture. FYI: The face wash works great with the Clarisonic and even better with a standard face brush.

I haven't been doing much else to my skin apart from applying a tiny bit of Bio oil once a week or every 2 weeks just to keep my skin further moisturised and protected from the cold weather. I have also been using the Dermalogica gentle cream exfoliant once a week to get rid of any dead skin cells, it's actually really nice as it's a face mask with lactic acid. I also use the Avene eye contour cream whenever I remember, it has a texture in between a cream and a gel which absorbs instantly with no greasy residue, me likey!

I have realised a few things.

    1. I am sensitive to some of my cheek products. Benefit 'Hoola', Nars 'Laguna' and even Mac blushes, For the past 2 months I have been using exactly the same products and same base (Mac face & body) and generally the Chanel bronze universel and my skin has been beautiful (no exaggeration) but, whenever I use the above mentioned I get tiny little bumps, what a shame! But, at least I know what's causing them, and I am 100% sure as I have really monitored it, when I stop using them my skin clears up.
    2. I don't need a toner.
    3. Less is more.

Final thoughts: If you are struggling with your skin because you use too many products, try eliminating them and really stick to a routine for 2 months so you can figure out where you are going wrong.

Have you tried the Neutrogena oil free range? And, what cheek products do you find work best with sensitive skin?

Disclaimer: The Clarisonic and Avene eye cream were sent for consideration for review, I was not paid for this post and I am not affiliated with the brands.

I agree, If I use a whole load of skin products I start breaking out on my cheek area. As soon as I forget to put on some moisturiser, my skin gets all clear. It's obvious that I need a light moisturiser. Will defo get this one now :)

I agree, any facial brush makes a lot of difference!

Glad to hear that these are working so well for you. A simple approach definitely works best for my skin too although I am guilty of piling on the products and make-up whenever my skin is looking less than perfect which only makes it worse! I bought a Body Shop face brush last week and can't wait to start using it.x

I'd never tried the Neutrogena skincare line until a few days ago. My friend recommended the moisturiser a few days ago and I went out and bought it. I really love it already!

Neutrogena was the first skin care brand I used and its one of the few drugstore non-naturals that works with my skin. The other is SOME of the Garnier pure range.
Great post. less is more and I agree.. no toners needed!

I use neutrogena's exfoliating face wash morning & night & love it! Their products really are incredible, I definitely noticed a difference in my skin after using them, have you tried their 2 in 1 face mask as well? Amazing! :)

    A really, really interesting review.

I am definitely going to have a look at the oil free face wash and moisturiser, but I still like to use a toner (Tea Tree Water by Lush) as my skin can be quite oily.

    Thanks

I've always been worried the neutrongena range might be too light and leave my skin tight, but I'll give it a go, especially since it's summer here in AU and I'm oilier than usual.

I use the avene compensating cream at night time, and thats all i need sometimes. Too much products on my skin just cloggs my pores :(
Maybe try some more natural/organic brands of make-up for your blusher and bronzer. Does mineral make-up break you out? I find that the non-organic cream products have the greatest tendency to break me out, but the mineral powders are generally quite safe. I do agree that less is more! x

I love your reviews! I was actually planning on using the Neutrogena things but had my doubts. I'm glad to hear they worked for you :)

I think I'll deff. try them now as I do have some acne. I'm using Mary Kay products right now but they've made face really, REALLY dry!

I like this post but i have always been worried to try drugstore brands since my failure with L'oreal pure zone it really scrapped my dry skin and my mum told me she felt that neutrogena made her face feel dry im confused my skin is so messed up! I have dry skin but I have blackheads like you wouldn't belive I love my neals yard organge facial oil but something else is making my skin go bad :( waaaaaaahh
    got it, love it said…
great post as always..i have tried neutrogena range in the past but only product works for me is their 2 in 1 facial wash...others just made my skin extremely dehydrated, but of course everyone's skin is different...3 months ago i had serious problems with whiteheads on my face especially on my cheeks, my boyfriend prescribed me ( he is doctor) a cream called DUAC ONCE A DAILY, i used it every night following with my usual moisturizer (freeze 24/7 double scoop or clinique dramatically different lotion) and it saved my skin...i wanst supposed to use it more than 2 months but im so scared that if i stop it i will again get those breakouts so for the past 3 weeks i have appliying it 3 times a week, so far so good :) i also use la roche posay, cica plast recommended by lovely lisa eldridge, it is another miracle product, it is basically a silicon based cream but works wonders as a primer...i dont even need a daily moistriser after that...anyways, after your post i decided to show some tlc to my old lovely face brush :)) thanks for the advise hun!!

I've been using similar things to you! I use Nutrogene Grapefruit wash and the oil free moisturiser and I use the Garnier grape fruit cleanser and toner. Love them all and they keep my skin looking good!

Actually i take what i said back. You do need toner.. but only in summer if your skin is seriously oily. Like a spritz of lush's tea tree now and then or some rosewater from neils yard!!

i tried the neutrogena oil free/waterproof make up remover, it's the one with two layers, and it didn't work as well for me. I actually did a review on it recently.

But I've been hearing that the clinique skin care lines work very well for sensitive skin!
    Thanks for sharing :)

I had some Neutrogena products and yes, I like it. Maybe for my skin I prefer other brands but Neutrogena was very good for my hands.

Thanks for sharing this information. I'm going to try that Neutrogena moisturiser and the Avene eye cream. Could you clarify which of those makeup products are clogging your skin, is it the chanel bronzer or the mac blushes?

@Nazia no spf in my moisturiser, but my foundation may have it, but to be honest i'm really not that fussed in winter, sometimes it's bad to be too obsessed with your skin and sometimes it's good.

    @Rocaille I shall look into it. :)

@Houda Inshallah you find what works for you. x

@Tali - Actually I agree, lush tea tree water in the summer is AMAZING.

@heartsnrockets I love the sebamed cleanser, I would use it anyday.

@Bellamama The benefit hoola and mac blushes. The chanel is great!

@acee922 I tried the clinique and hated it, everyone's skin is different even if it's still classified sensitive. Hope you find what works for you. x

I used to use Neutrogena products during my teen acne years, I remember going through numerous amounts of the cleanser!
I think I should give it another chance in the present day too, my skin hasn't been behaving for quite a while now...
Don't you just hate it that it takes so long to find out if a product works for you or to discover which one is the cause of the breakout? I mean, it takes a few trials to see if a product breaks you out and absolute eons for the pimples to go away!!!! :/

    xxx

ditto with the hoola and other benefit products - including moon beam and you rebel. I think they contain titanium dioxide (if i remember rightly) which is what causes the bumps. I can deal with them because theyre not really noticeable without my magnifying mirror, but if i stick to my Chanel Bronze Universel i also find my skin is so much better! its so annoying of benefit. i think everyone has the same reaction they just dont notice it!

Skin should be taken care of properly as face is the first thing you see when you meet someone. If your face is not so clear(with pimples, acne etc)it will deliver a silent message that you are not taking care of yourself well. Natural Organic Care products are the ones which can be used without any fear because they are free of harsh chemicals.
I wash my face with this once to get rid of any makeup I may have ... evanitymirror.blogspot.com
