I Heart Peanut!
Peanut is an 11 week old Jack Russell Terrior, I don't know where he was born, but I know that his previous owner had to leave him as her kids weren't getting on too well with him. I know she didn't want to but, obviously her kids are priority.
He seems to have something wrong with one of his legs, he can't put much pressure on it. I don't know how or when this happened. :(
He was given to the dog unit where my mum spotted him and they gave him to her.
When he came to me yesterday he was shivering and scared. After a bath, some food and water, much cuddles, stroking and love he felt safe and was happily roaming around.
He seems most happy in front of the TV on the sofa and is now fast asleep. I don't know how much he slept in his bed during the night, maybe he was anxious and feels more comfortable sleeping with the sound of the TV, who knows? He is very clever and knows where to poop, after a few accidents! :)

I have been researching on how to look after him and am learning along the way, I have never had a dog before so am a bit clueless, however my husband has had several so he knows exactly what he's doing.
I really want to keep him forever, but know that this kind of dog is best suited to an outdoor environment, I would never ever want to leave him alone in the house and would feel bad if I did as I live in a flat. I think the best place for him would be with the man from the dog unit as he lives in the countryside and has 12 dogs where he would be exercised regularly and be very sociable.
OMG - As I am typing this I have news that his previous owner wants him back! :( Nooo! As if I'm going to give him back to them, no way!!! I don't want him going round in circles. He deserves a happy home where he will be loved and cared for and not left in the background!

It's too sad you can't keep him, it wouldn't be fair to the dog but it's so fun having a little puppy playing around!
I own two dogs that I found abandoned in the neighbourhood, it's been 5 years now and the puppets have grown into loving and cuddly little dogs ;)
Really hope Peanut can find a happy home where he is loved!
Is it even legal for them to claim him back? Check what are your rights when it comes to that... I don't think he should be allowed back with the previous owner - they can't just shuffle him back and forth. And, anyway, if the kids didn't get along with him, what are the odds they will start to now?
Also, you mentioned problems with his leg - I'd be scared maybe he was beaten before :/

I have a lil dog too, like Peanuts one of his leg has a defect but he's perfect for me. His previous owner was trying to sell him but nobody wants him coz he commands a high price so as he got a bit older the owner gave him away to us because they don't want to spend anymore for his food. Poor Brownie he came here with he was so thin his ribs poking out =( But he's a lil healthy dog now...
Don't give Peanut up when you know the owner won't take good care of such a precious lil thing!
I'm not sure his previous owner would be allowed to take him back as he did abandon him. I hope you manage to find him a suitable and loving home. Such a shame that you can't keep him :(. Good luck xxx

@Aleksis Totally I read about that too. I they need to be digging a LOT, and have to run about, not the easiest to care for. Thanks for the recommendations on the other dogs, I really want one now :)

No way should he be allowed back to the previous owner, you can't pick and choose when you want the dog. Or has she got rid of the kids that were the problem in the first place?! :)
We have two staffies, soft as anything and I couldn't imagine giving them away.

I hope the previous owner doesn't get him back. I know that sounds harsh but what's to say that they won't abandon him again? I have 2 dogs, and no matter how much they pooped or barked or anything like that, getting rid of them was never an option.
Fingers crossed he finds a home where he'll be loved and looked after soon - though something tells me someone is going to snap that little cutie up!

Hold onto him and give him plenty of love until you can find someone with a big garden or someone who lives near the countryside.
It makes me sad when people think dogs are just toys that can be disposed of whenever they get too tough!
Dogs are like children. If you put in the effort and address their needs, they can do just about anything you ask of them. Just because they're from a certain breed doesn't mean that they'll be terrors. (Not to imply that you said anything of the sort)
As for the leg, you may want to have the vet check him for Lyme Disease. It can cause those type of symptoms, and if positive, he'll just need to be given some antibiotics for a month or so. Btw, I TOTALLY agree with Menena. You've got a good heart, and you know what to do. I hope it all works out for the little guy!
My auntie had a similar problem, she bought a Labrador for my cousin and she ended up giving it away cause its enviroment wasn't suitable cause she lives in a housing estate. She gave it to someone who lives in the countryside with other dogs so the dog will be much happier. Don't give the dog back to the owners!! If they weren't commuted the first time there not going to be the second!
