The battle of the peach blush!

I have two peach powder blushes that are almost identical.. One is Nars "Gina" and the other is Illamasqua "Lover". I have become rather obsessed with peach lately as it gives a lovely natural flushed finish.

On closer inspection, Nars "Gina" is a orange peach. Illamasqua "Lover" has a more sugar toned pastel hue to it..
Both blushes are matt and equally as pigmented, I cannot fault either of them. Nars blushes are £18.50 and Illamasqua blushes are £16, both blushes have 4.5gms in them. They are expensive, but you get so much product and you only need a little as the colour is so pigmented, so I know they will last me forever. Below are some swatches.

Eva Mendez demonstrates perfectly how to wear peach cheeks..

Both "Lover" and "Gina" can achieve this look.
Anybody can wear peach on their cheeks, it really compliments and brightens the face... I love to wear it in the summer, I think it makes a fresh change from pink, What do you think?

I have no idea how well I could pull off peach blushes. I am NC30 so fairly olive but even so, I get scared of looking like I've used bronzer incorrectly and made myself look really tangoed :( I may experiment with a cheap brand before committing!

I really like peachy blush. After the makeover with Chase Aston I have decided to steer away from the pinks and am going for peaches and browns, must better for my skin tone... Might have to give that Illamasqua one a go, I got their white 'blush' Intrigue and love it, so pigmented... you can almost wave the brush near by and pick up enough product, that litle is needed :)

@medx awww peach blush looks amazing on olive skin, experiment first.. I'll see if there's a cheap dupe in boots! X

@rebecca ur makeup looked amazing that day, I've stopped using my pinks fir now.. I'm on a peach rush :) x

I don't have either of those, but they look lovely! I've been really into peaches and corals lately too...have you tried Benefit's Coralista? I just picked up one from Tarte that I will review soon..it has a nice shimmer to it.

@fantastic I've swatched it but haven't purchased, it's lovely! I already have an amazing smasbix one that's practically the same colour. X
Oh i love peach blush in the summer, it's my all time favorite!!! Now your are tempting to check out the NARS one. I love NARS and too sad we dont have Illamasqua in the US. I hate to buy it without swatching it on myself first.

Dannimag, I can't buy anything without swatchinh it.. Just in case :)

beautiful. i love peachy blushes!
Hmm, I think 'natural flush' in my case definitely means pink, not coral, but I love the swatch of Illamasqua lover... I think I have to try and experiment with some peaches :)
I love peach blush in the summer too. I am loving Coralista from benefit and Lillium Convertible colour from Stila. They are my spring/summer staples this year. I will need to check out Gina from NARs. Torrid and Lustre are nice -- they both have peachy undertones.

Both blushes are really pretty! I used to wear Mac's Coppertone which is a deep peachy shade. Right now my fave peachy blush is Mac's Fun & Games because it's just soo clean and natural looking.

I have been looking for a darker version of MAC's Fun & Games blush, which is too light to show up on my skin but a beautiful peach color. Now I really want NARS Gina!! Great post <3

It looks absolutely lovely on Eva Mendes, but then that girl looks amazing all the time anyway. Hmph!

I've been coveting Gina for a long time now, last time I was at the NARS counter, I restricted myself to only one blush, there was a tie between Gina, Gilda and Amour, Amour won out.
Ilamasqua looks gorgeous too!
I'm usually wary of peach on myself but have been using MAC Style Warriors Eversun--which is of the peachy family--lately. :)

I've never tried peach so I might give it a go. I tend to stick to browns... It's hard for me to find the right blush!

Another peach blush lover. It looks so fresh and glowy on the skin.

P.S Hope you're feeling brighter. Your tweets were worrying me yesterday xx

A really lovely (and VERY inexpensive) peach blush is the Wet & Wild one in the color Naive. I think I bought mine at Walmart for $2.93. I'm really not sure if they sell this brand anywhere outside of the U.S. but it is definitely worth a try!

I have an olive skin tone and i find peachy coloured blushes look more natural than pink ones on me. My favourite is Luster by Nars!

I've never liked pink blushes, somehow they don't look natural to me. I am obsessed with peach blushes! I want that Illamasqua blusher! :)

I like the Gina a little better I think. Now I'm going to have to go get it!!!

I think peach can be much more flattering than pink. I have a Bobbi Brown Blusher in coral and I love it! I wouldnt have chosen the colour but the MA recommended it and now I always look at peaches before pinks.

I am looking forward to your full reviews on the Illamasqua bits and how your getting on with them! :) x

I think peach looks great with blue eyes... obviously paler blush on paler skin looks best though, but thats not to say us palies can't wear brights - Excite by illamasqua is def more orange than peach, but I love it!

I love peach blush. I have Nars Gina and it's personally, one of my favourite peach blushes...I love the look of the Illamasqua one. You should check out Organic Glam's (Organic Pharmacy's make up line)Peach blush, it's gorgeous! MAC Peaches is nice for those with paler skintones too! xxx

i've been wanting to try a nars blush for a while but have quite pale skin
i was wondering if you had a recommendation for me??
is the nars one in this post too bright for pale skin??
gorrrrgeous...!!
but on a total 'nother note: what do you think she has on her lips?
it compliments the blusher so well.. love this look!

bit OT but eva's ring is TO DIE FOR *drools*
Patricia said…
and i love everything, everything you bought, like always :)
Muhsine Emin said…
@GinaGlamour yay :)

@AbbieandBrian well, if you use a light hand u can get a sheer wash of colour, and intensify the colour by building it up, my best advice to you would be to go to a Nars counter and swatch all the colours yourself, Orgasm is a peachy pink and i think definately lives up to the hype.

@Happiness Sparkles i know, the colour of the lips looks great, Nars Casablanca is quite similar...

@Patricia trust you to notice the ring lol, xx
Muhsine Emin said…
@Happiness Sparkles actually, maybe not nars casablanca, too dark! Maybe Illamasqua Rude cream blush on the lips will work!
thanks so much for your reply!
no illamasqua in the US so I'll have to check out something similar, but I'm on the quest! xx

Happiness sparkles, maybe mac ravishing lipstick!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVE NARS Gina! It has been a favourite of mine since I got it a few months back. I use it almost everyday. I'm so glad you did a review comparing it to Illamasqua's Lover blush cause I really want this blush as well. I've been on such a crazy peach blush kick lately! I just feel like it compliments my skin better and makes me feel healthier looking ahha! Great post :)
