Bright Lips? Yay or Nay?

Nars Red Square matt lip pencil..

I realy can't decide on this subject, I much prefer my nudes as I think brights just make my features look more prominent and i'm not sure if I like that. I have Red Square by Nars that I have never worn and whilst sorting out my makeup decided to try it on! It's a matt pencil so I added some tinted lip conditioner in Pink Fish from the HK to gloss it up and tone down the coral a little - which didn't work btw, the pencil is SO pigmented. I like the finish but i'm not sure I'll ever wear it out, what do you think? My hubby prefers nude lips and insists that he doesn't like bright lips. Hmmmm, I think most guys prefer natural looking as opposed to in your face make up! However, that said I think it will look nice on holiday.. I don't think I can rock this look in the UK, infact I don't think I can rock it at all! How do you wear bright lips?

I love bright red lips, one of my fave lippies is Lady Danger by MAc, I usually wear with winged liner for a very chic look. I love the impact of red lips x

I too love this! I'm soo glad u tried it! I think that ur right about guys not loving bright makeup too...but, i too have a hard time with the bright lips...what i do is either put the lipgloss on first and then apply lipstick to give a pop of the colour but not full on color as if it were the lipstick first then the gloss...i find it more wearable when the overly bright colors look a bit too much! OR...dab the lipstick on a bit then gloss... but i still love this on u!

@Charlene thanks, yes I may try just dabbing it ontop of some gloss or trying to tone it down abit, I dunno :) I have so many colours but always seem to wear the same thing, I'm on a mission to experiment :)

I always wear red lips with a bronzed face, tonns of mascara and eyeliner (but not a heavily smokey eye)... i dont agree with the rule red lips..simple eyes.
The only thing I cant wear are purples and dark brows.. i find those colors impossible! x

I think you can totally pull it off. It's a nice thing to do when you don't want to do eyeshadow. If you do just some winged eyeliner and a red lip, it looks really sophisticated! It's a nice change and it attracts attention. You rock it! =]

I bought Russian Red from MAC and I only "wore it" for 2 minutes around the house. I don't feel confident enough to wear it outside the house. I think my lips have a good enough shape to suit a red lip however, I doubt I'll ever find the confidence to do so.

I think you can totally work the red lip. All you need is a bit of courage. If I'll ever get the guts to wear it out, it'll probably pull my hair back since red lips are quite overpowering and wear a simple outfit. Tanned skin and coral reds look awesome!

Let me know if you ever wear it out and maybe that will give me courage to try doing so!

most boys like nude lips betters, they feel it is more natural blabla hahaa..cuz if you kiss them, they will end up with all the lipstick all over their faces hahah

how I wear bright lips: quite simple really.. with bronzer on the cheeks and gold/or nude eyeshadow,liner and mascara.

In my opinion the two sexiest makeup applications a woman can wear are a smokey eye or red lips.
I think most women can pull off red lips, it's just a matter of:

A)finding the perfect shade for your skin tone and..
B)finding the confidence to rock it!
It looks amazing on you darling!

Bright lips are a huge love of mine, and this colour looks amazing on you. Please please please don't feel that you can't wear it in the UK - you definitely can, I'd wear it to a bar in the evening, or out to dinner. It's a stunning colour and looks very glam - sort of 50s style!

i did a blog about how nude lips are out and red lips are in!
red lips are so sexy and stop you from lookin dead! you should do black mascara and eyeliner and a black dress with your red lips and youd look hot!

I love bright lips on you! Mashallah you look gorgeous. Nude lips are good for everyday, but once in a while (especially on an occasion at night), bright lips look stunning. I personally LOVE bright lips, but I like it better with dark eyes, and I have blue/green eyes.. soo.. I dont know, I'd rather have it with dark brown eyes. lol.
